BNI Handover Socials At Simply Indian – Sep 25 2021
We celebrated the exchange of the LT Positions of our chapter, at Simply Indian, a restaurant, owned by Shreya amongst the many other businesses she runs.
Odyssey has had a great run with the old outgoing LT. Uma Reddy as President, The Better Asher aka Mihir Asher as VP, and Prem Karlo as Secretary took brought in a lot of your and vibrant new members, in various niche businesses.
Many were clamoring for an offline party as the virtual world is not something any of us are used to for extended periods of time.
A handover social is all about bringing in the new LT with as much Dhoom that we could muster.
The LT was being upgraded, by installing Mihir as the President, Deepak Jumani as the VP, and my Mentee Nirmal as the new secretary.
We had limited budgets, however, considering there was no “income” at all for the last 6 months, and odyssey purse was as dry as a bone!
We debated on asking all members to pay 2000/- for the kitty to fill it up, and in essence throw a party with it. I was against it, but finally, the Leadership Team won the argument and went ahead with the ask.
I was surprised that almost everyone paid up without hesitation, and had hardly any questions.
It reaffirmed my faith in Odyssey as a group, that trusts each other so much.
We reached out to Shreya, who gave a fabulous deal for using her restaurant for the party. The food was delicious, and the service was superb.
Our new VP managed to get the same guy we did last year, as a DJ, and he rocked the house with some great music.
I was enjoying my Old monk, thanks to the thoughtful arrangement by Deepak, and the photos soon became blurrier than ever…
After initially cribbing about the distance from the CBD of the venue, i was pleasantly surprised and thankful, that most people agreed to come, and brought plus 1s as well.
It was a great turnout. Around 50 people turned up in spite of the distance from CBD. Almost all the new faces, we met for the first time apart from on a virtual screen.
Special Thanks to Shautick, Shreya, Deepak, for all the arrangements.
