December 3rd 2022 – Minoti & Nitin Wedding – The Sangeet

I Was invited to the festivities of Minoti Asher’s Wedding in the beautiful Panchavati Pavilion.

The first Event was the sangeet, where the family, friends, the bride and groom put up a grand dance program. It was the evening of December 3rd with an very interesting buffet amongst close family and friends. I was thrilled to be back doing what i love best… candid wedding photography in a big fat colourful wedding!

I hired a D850 with a 70-200F2.8 Lens from the ever trusted Lensowl just for this. I was learning the ropes on the fly, so to speak, of handling the beauty that is the Nikon D850.

A rookie mistake I made, was to take the camera and figure it out at the venue. The Settings were way different than my regular D7100.

I reached well in time for the main event, but as I inserted the 64gb Sd card into the body, a small piece of it broke, and the camera wouldn’t read the card anymore! Luckily I had a backup 32GB card, but that meant I could only shoot about 250pictures in RAW.

I was lucky to find Williams, of Winking Lenses, my good friend, covering the event with his extensive team of photographers and videographers.

Although they didn’t have a card with them, he helped me with tips and tricks on the settings to ensure i had more than enough space for shooting! Meanwhile i ordered a new 64gb card for the wedding the next day immediately!.

The silver lining is that it forced me to really think before taking each shot, and that was a great big learning as well!

I am back to shooting weddings, after a long hiatus, on a new camera and lens of which i had not much idea of. Hence the pictures are also not “up there” with the best of them!
