The north-east work adventure – Jorhat

Day 12 – March 1 2020

Spoke to Mum on video chat asking with bed tea amidst loud hammering sounds from above.

Had a quick bath and headed from breakfast with Y and J.

Requested the hotel reception to stop work for an hour at least so that we can rest. She assured me work would stop for an hour. But as soon as I went to the room it started again. I went up the source, got the either to accompany me to the reception, and they both agreed to stop work for an hour

Sat for a video call to see Ishaan graduate and then the slow hammering started again. Oh well!!!

The taxi arrived promptly at 11.15 am.

The 100 km drive to Kaziranga would take 3.5 to 4 hours. It was a boring drive, though the occasional sites of tea gardens on both sides of the road was a welcome site. It was quite a hot day today.

Our lunch stop 40km before Kaziranga

Got a Jeep for 4 of us ( including the taxi driver) for 3100/-. And we headed to the eastern zone

Unfortunately, they were burning the dry grass in this area, and most animals were around one side of a lake, so so we saw were some deer, rhinoceros, buffalo, 2 elephants and few birds.

The driver too was young and in a hurry, he completed the normal 2.5 hours journey within 1.5 hours and refused to go for another round. The forest fire was also not helping, and while we were far from the zone, there was a constant rainfall of falling ash and burnt leaves.

Returned the Jeep, had some tea and we head back to Jorhat. I booked another taxi for my trip to Dibrugarh tomorrow, while Y and J finish the commissioning at Jorhat.
