Welcome 2019 – Andhra Ride – Dec 2018

Antervedi

The roads were like an expressway, but filled with loads of traffic. Speeds were low, and stomachs were rumbling by 3pm.

We had lunch at a cafe off the highway

Called my uncle in Hyderabad for suggestions of stay on the way to lambasingi but his suggestion was dolphin resort near Vizag.

At 6000/- Rs a night, it wasn’t what we had in mind at all. We reconsidered the lambasingi target which was still over 300km away and decided instead to head to Antervedi, a town near the delta of the river Godavari

We stopped for coffee and snack on the way to Antervedi at cafe built inside a container

Sara arranged a room for us for 500/- a night with broken Telegu and smattering of Tamil.

By the time we reached the small town, through curvy, badly lit roads, and a small stop to catch the sunset, it was 730 pm

The hotel he found had new rooms but apparently toilets were small for him and his major worry was how he would get me out of it if I happened to be stuck!!

Some local boys on bikes suggested we ask the temple as they have rooms as well. Turns out they do, and for a sum of 1000 rs a night, got a us a room on top of an empty house. No hot water, but had an AC and safe parking for the bikes.

Headed out by 830 for dinner and the place was deserted. Nothing was open, and after much hunting found a small hut that had some basic food and sara enticed the old lady with conversation. That got us some really tasty pickle .

We woke up early and headed to the beach, the delta, where the river meets the sea. An unspoilt empty beach with remnants of an old British lighthouse .

We head out from antervedi a little before noon towards rajamundry.
