The north-east work adventure – Jorhat

Day 10 – 28 Feb 2020

We reached the airforce station by 9.45 am. Owing mainly to a slow breakfast service and an even slower auto ride to the gate.

We hope the installation material will reach today, as “promised” by inland transport. Then we can begin our work and complete it on two days.

We hope also the Mieco pumps will be reaching today.

We hope to get the temporary pass today as assured by Mr Biswajit.

We hope to get in by 1030 and be out by 5pm.

Called Biswajit who asked us to wait at the gate visiting room for him.

A lot of hope today. But so far it’s been 45 mins and no sign of Mr Biswajit yet!!

He arrived at 11.15 am and we started the procedure to get the temporary pass.

A long wait and some more procedures later, we got the pass at 12.30pm

We head to the site, and chalked out the plan of where to fit what.

Lunched at the airforce mess and back at work by 2pm.

We got news of the items arriving tomorrow and we were done with preparations of the site. We were out by 5 pm and we head to find the transporter to request him to deliver earlier.

He has promised to keep the vehicle ready for delivery at 8 and either Y or J can accompany the vehicle to the gate. Biswajit also agreed to be present at the gate to ease delivery

Headed back to the hotel, and answered phones and replied to email to 730. Drafted a “certificate of completion” and sent it by email to the printer that we used yesterday.

Got 10 printouts at the shop by 830 and walked up and down the street. Picked up some fresh jeera and black salt biscuits from a local bakery and head back to the hotel for dinner of bad rava dosa, roti and dal

Lights out by 11.
